My Life in Pizza, in Honor of National Pizza Week
6 slices of life featuring slices of ‘za
An email from Blaze pizza informs me that this week (January 8th-14th) is National Pizza Week here in the U.S. Yes, there’s a holiday for just about everything these days, but personally I don’t mind an excuse to celebrate our favorite foods.
And for me, pizza is definitely a top tier favorite. So, I thought I’d reminisce about some of my favorite pizza-adjacent memories in honor of this holiday. I suggest reading with a slice of ‘za. Go ahead and order one. I’ll wait.
AmeriCorps Nights at Mac’s Pizza Pub (Clifton, Cincinnati, OH)
During my AmeriCorps days, I lived in Clifton, a neighborhood of Cincinnati perhaps best known for being the location of the University of Cincinnati. There were also a number of wonderful pizza places in the area, many of which I still miss.
A popular haunt for me and my AmeriCorps friends was a place called Mac’s Pizza Pub. It was there that I had one of my favorite buffalo chicken pizzas of all time, which is described on the menu as featuring “buffalo sauce base, chicken, fresh jalapenos, bleu cheese crumbles, cheddar, provolone, and mozzarella.”
