I agree it is important not to avoid discussing/teaching things due to personal preference alone. Due to the limitations of the course, we can only watch 3–4 films a semester, and many of the issues around female representation that are in Wonder Woman come up in the other movies we watch. So, I felt it wasn’t adding much for me to set aside two days of class to screen it.

That said, we talk about far more than just the movies we are able to watch together in class, and students can choose anything superhero related for their papers, so Wonder Woman makes her way into the class each semester. WW tends to be the movie more students have already seen outside class, even those who don’t typically watch superhero content.
